We thought these could be useful 🙂
1. Why do I need a lawyer?
Please see Shlomit Glaser talking about this in full.
2. What will this cost?
There is no easy answer to this. It very much depends on whether court is involved or not and whether your partner cooperates. Once we know your situation, we’ll be able to give you a more precise answer.
3. What if I cannot afford a lawyer?
If you can’t afford there are options such as legal aid and legal loans. Legal aid is government assistance, but it only applies in a small number of cases that meet specific criteria. We don’t offer legal aid, but there are law firms who offer this service.
Legal loans exist from companies which specialise in legal proceedings. It’s a loan like any other, which makes a lot of difference in some cases. This is most suitable where the other side is financially secure and you are not (there is a big financial gap between you) and there is a family home or other property that can be sold. We can discuss this option with you after finding out more about your situation, and advise whether it may be suitable for you.
4. What types of cases does your firm handle?
We specialise in all family law cases, especially ones with an international aspect.
5. Does your law firm handle my kind of situation?
Yes, if your situation relates to divorce, separation, children, or any other aspect of family law, other than inheritance and wills. Give us a ring to see if we can help in your specific case.
6. How long has your law firm been in business?
Since 2013. Please see about us.
7. Do you charge for a consultation?
Yes. Our target is that you will leave us fully informed and give you the knowledge that will help you to be ready to make decisions on your next steps. We take on a significant responsibility when we advise you as professionals as every mistake can change your destiny , so that’s what you pay for. You can find a full explanation in “your first meeting”.
8. What are your office hours?
We are open 9am – 5 pm Monday to Thursday and 9am – 3pm on Friday . We are closed on Saturday . On Sunday we are open from 11 – 4.
9. How soon will my case be resolved?
That depends on cooperation of your partner and the kind of your case. If court is involved, it will depend on how soon the court is able to hear the case. This is normally a matter of months. If court is needed, we will explain to you the timetable that is likely to apply.
10. Will I have to go to court?
Not necessarily. We believe that we should try and avoid court to reduce tension and costs. However, if we can’t avoid it, then yes. If the court issues an order for a hearing – you need to be there.
11. What do I need to do to get started?
The first step is give us a call or send an email to have a meeting to assess your case and build a strategy for you.
If you have any other questions – please ask and we’ll gladly answer.
